Masiela Lusha to Appear in "The Science of Cool" with Mischa Barton

Double Helix Entertainment's new teen comedy "The Science of Cool," which is currently in pre-production, will star Mischa Barton ("The OC"), Jeremy Sumpter ("Friday Night Lights"), Masiela Lusha ("The George Lopez Show"), Jessie Cave ("Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince"), and Kiely Williams (The Cheetah Girls). The movie will be directed by Tamara Tunie ("Law and Order SUV") and written by Eric and Patrician Goren, and centers on two geeky students who discover a formula that can transform nerds into studs. The project is slated to be a hilarious, modern take on some of the most classic 1980s teen comedies such as "Weird Science," "Fast Times at Ridgemont High," "Sixteen Candles," and "Ferris Bueller's Day Off."

According to Goren, Barton is playing "one of the female leads, Jane, who is a girl who is teased and picked on for being 'too plain.'" Jeremy Sumpter will be playing the leading male character Neil Tobbler, who stumbles upon the formula in science class. ''We are also in talks with a number of very popular actors and actresses from TV shows such as 'Gossip Girl' and '90210,' and many A-list actors from the big screen that everyone in the world will recognize. Tamara Tunie, our director, will be possibly acting in 'The Science of Cool' too."
